The restaurant at The Duke of Cumberland serves an inviting menu that embraces classic pub fare with thoughtful, contemporary touches. The hearty mains are a celebration of comfort and flavour, featuring highlights such as the rich and succulent Traditional Steak and Ale Pie, the robust Cumberland Sausage that pays homage to local culinary heritage, and a vibrant Vegetable Thai Green Curry that will delight spice lovers seeking something different. For grill enthusiasts, the kitchen’s Hot Of The Grill options like the indulgent Godfather Burger or the perfectly grilled chicken breast are not to be missed, each bursting with satisfying layers of taste and texture.

Every dish feels authentic and thoughtfully crafted, whether it’s the lasagne with its molten cheese and tender pasta layers or the wholesome Three Bean Chilli that brings a hearty vegetarian twist. The scampi also stands out as a delightful, crisp bite that balances the menu’s variety beautifully.

You’ll find a welcoming and lively space where locals and visitors mingle—inside, the historic pub buzzes with energy, while the spacious beer garden offers the perfect retreat for sunny afternoons. Guests frequently praise the friendly and attentive service, as Alison Williams noted, “Lovely food, beef was fab, huge portions and lots of choices of vegs. Service was friendly and welcoming.” This warmth extends across the team, ensuring visitors feel genuinely valued, whether they're popping in for a casual lunch or a Sunday roast full of hearty, generous servings.

Real customer impressions paint a vibrant picture—Jacqui Cutter shares how the pub’s atmosphere “was a little daunting” at first with exuberant football supporters, but ultimately, the enticing menu and great cider create an irresistible pull. Diff-Ability CIC emphasizes the accessibility and the abundance of outdoor space, describing the venue as “old style with a modern twist,” highlighting the appealing mix of traditional charm and contemporary comfort. Craig Mason highlights the dedication of staff even during quieter weekday visits, praising the welcoming nature and quality of the chicken feast pizza.

Beyond the food, The Duke of Cumberland also excels in its drink offerings, boasting an extensive selection of draught beers, wines by the glass, and cocktails—including options to “Double Up Your Cocktail” or spirits served with mixers to suit every taste. The bar is a social hub, reflecting a big, vibrant choice perfectly suited to casual evenings or celebratory gatherings.

Visited on a Wednesday lunch when there was a very sweet lady working who seems to be by herself doing everything. She was very welcoming and polite. Had a chicken feast pizza which was good with plenty of pizza topping. Would recommend.

Walking from the car park into the pub was a little daunting! Loud, I think football supporters, enjoying a beer in the sun! But once inside a really nice atmosphere! Great cider and a really nice menu! Food was fab and served with a smile!
